Video Project-
Project description-
For this video project, my group and I started off by decided we wanted to make a documentary about this year at Animas High School, we started out by finding different people, both staff and students from different grades to interview. This we did by writing a script we would go through with each interview. The way that we perfected this project was using skills that we learned in programs such as Adobe Flash, Photoshop, and others. This was we could edit our video to make it look professional. Including the stop motion introduction, which was entirely made in Adobe flash. We also had time in class to get ideas from others and critiques from students, as well as our teacher.
Project Reflection Questions-
What I learned and am taking away from this project-
Why do Artists Produce Preliminary Plans? (sketches, brainstorms, storyboards, etc?)
The reason most artists produce preliminary plans before working on their final project is because it helps them get an idea for what the final product is going to be. It’s a way for them to brainstorm what they have, so that they can perfect it before they make the actual final project.
What problem-solving skills are employed in making works of art?
The problem solving skills that are employed in making a work(s) of art are learning to expect failure while you are working so that you know what not to do, as well as knowing how to prevent it from happening again, so you can learn from your mistakes.
How is art used in everyday life?
Art is used in everyday life as a way for people to express themselves and be able to do it in a way that classifies as art. This could be through a painting, a sculpture, or any form of art. Not only does it have to be used as a way to express a person’s self, but it can also be used as a way to experience a level of visual pleasure.
How are the characteristics and expressive features of art and design used to create art?
The characteristics and expressive features of art and design are used to create art by using these characteristics and expressive features in many ways. Many ways in which to create either an emotion and/or show a message to the audience.
How does Material Culture influence artistic decisions?
Material culture influences artistic decisions because it gives them inspiration from a modern world, based off what is material in the modern world, as well as in that past. Artists use this to find inspiration for their pieces.

Blackfish Political Cartoon-
For this project, we watched a documentary called “Blackfish”, a film on the popular corporation of Seaworld, and the confined lives of the killer whales within; as well as the numerous attacks on some of the trainers. Also, how different the whales lives are in the wild vs in captivity. My political cartoon shows the message of this by using a lot of irony and some humor using the bathtub, which is what it would feel like for a human, as the whales live in too small of tanks which is not nearly as healthy. As well as other components, such as the man saying that whales live better in captivity and live longer. My intended audience for this would be everyone who is either blind to what really happens not only to the whales at Seaworld, but most of the animals, or those who disagree with what is going on behind the scenes. This type of information can be shared (like this) artistically by using simple pictures that can say 1,000 words, or using symbols that have a great impact on others. Another very good way to do so, is symbols to influence people’s decisions. Another crucial concept is creating art vs viewing art. While both are equally powerful, I think that creating art has more of a deeper understanding for the creator, this is because they are the ones who know what kind of message they are trying to put across to the viewers; so therefore know better on how to influence someone and make them think.

Prehistoric Art Drawings-
Prehistoric Art Drawings-For this project we watched a video called "Man Created Dog", learning about how the pre-historic people evolved and lived. Then we drew our own versions of a wolf, or any other prehistoric animal. Then, to better our drawings, we used handouts, to practice making our drawings more realistic and evenly proportioned; we practiced about three drawings before we did the final. Then, we went in to Illustrator and used different techniques and thresholds to create a different effect on each picture. As you can see, each picture looks different based on the different type of threshold I used, such as; black and white, comic art, ink drawing, lettering, and simple trace. Each of which, made the picture have different visual effects. This image trace technique impacted my drawing because it almost makes it look like it has different emotions, or different or a different feeling. I could further use this skill to make my art and other projects in this class better and much more refined, and to make my drawings have different effects as this drawing does, and it can also make the drawing look hand drawn, or computer generated, which can come in handy sometimes.

Teacher Creature Project-
For this project what we did was use photoshop to turn a teacher of our choosing into a creature that was completely up to us, though we did ask the teacher we choose some basic questions of what they might have wanted us to do, but other then that it was up to us. So, for this I turned Hannah Starbuck into a butterfly and put things around her that she either likes (books, desert, math, broncos, lime green, and Colorado) or doesn't like. (the super) While also trying to make it weird at the same time, which it is I think. The hardest part about this project was trying to make it look at real as possible which you can imagine is kind of hard making a human butterfly look realistic. My favorite part of this project was it being completely up to me, for example, I could whatever I wanted to use, use as many pictures as I wanted, and basically use any pictures I wanted. Personally, I don’t think I learned anything about myself by working on this project because I already know I’m weird, and this picture shows that. What I learned about myself as a digital artist is that I am better with computers than I originally thought I was. Before, I assumed that computers were definitely not my thing, but after doing this project I learned that by working with photoshop over time, and watching video tutorials and practicing, it ended up being a lot easier than it seemed.
