El Espectaculo
During this project we had to choose a partner as well as a Hispanic recipe of our choice to learn about and write in Spanish as if we were teaching someone how to make it. Then partners had to make a video of them cooking the actual recipe and going step by step on how to make the food; while tasting it at the end and reviewing the taste of the final product.

Proyecto biografía
During this project each of the students had the opportunity to choose a famous or iconic Hispanic person to do a short biography on. The biography includes a short video and an art piece we did to represent our person we choose. I decided to choose the singer Jenifer Lopez, over a few weeks I learned about her and what her life is like and created a short script to memorize in Spanish describing her life.

Dia De Los Muertos
For this project we learned more about the culture of the widely celebrated holiday of Dia de los muertos. For this, we created our own calaveras. A calavera is a form of satire used to mock a person in the form of poetry. In class, we were to choose a famous person, or someone with an occupation of our choosing, and we wrote a satire poem on them. Another form of a calavera that we wrote during this project was a poem honoring a loved one that we had lost, either a person or an animal, or anything of our choosing. We wrote about our loved one, and at the end placed our poems about them on a giant alter that was to be presented at our exhibition. At the exhibition we had the privilege to fully be apart and experience the Mexican culture around this holiday. We watched dancing, decorated sugar skulls, and showed all of our work to our families. The exhibition opened my mind to this holiday because I learned more about the world and the kinds of holidays they celebrate, and I was thankful I got the chance to be apart of it.

During this project we had to write a pen pal letter to a student like us in Mexico who is studying English, we wrote to them about our lives here such as out daily routine, and our family and friends, as well as general facts about ourselves. In addition to that, we had to form our letters into a piece of art, using a picture that described us as a person. (see picture to left) One things that I learned during this project that was a new skill to me was my use of stem changing verbs in the Spanish language. Such as when to change the ending of a verb depending on who you're talking about; personally I really feel that I grew on this. Secondly, my ability to describe people in Spanish grew in the sense that I can be a lot more specific when I describe people in Spanish because I can use more descriptive words instead of something basic like "the boy is short." In addition, my art represents beautiful work because I feel that it shows information in an interesting way, because it is more appealing to the eye than just a plain letter hanging on the wall. However, when it comes to refining my work I think that I could have made my letter longer, and more in depth, as well as coloring my poster a lot better and having the entire thing more "clean" looking.
